![]() VILLAGE SITE PLAN |
Cottage 14 is in the “Village” area of the community. Cottages in the Village are semi-custom designs. Typically, the lot buyer works closely with the project designers on the architectural details of the cottage. Based on the buyers's preference, the building crew then either builds just the exterior shell or completes the entire cottage inside and out. Cottage 14 was built on spec to allow the installation of the Village infrastructure plan, the interior road and most of the landscaping on the west side of the Village. It is offered with a finished exterior, interior framing, stairs, interior plumbing and heating and all exterior utility services. Buyer can complete the cottage him/herself or let the crew do the finishing. The community is organized as an association. Members jointly own and maintain the common lakefront, boat docks, walking trails and other open space. All common ownership cost as well as association membership are included in the sale price of a cottage. Each member has exclusive use of 2 boat slips at the association dock . A swimming beach (to which association owners have deeded rights), golf course, tennis courts, the village of Northville and other amenities such as a lakeside restaurant are within walking distance. |

The
interior design of cottage 14 is open, with the kitchen, living and
dining areas flowing into each other (see first floor layout photo).
The stairwell is integrated into the living space. The first floor includes
a bedroom and full bath. The front porch is spacious. There is a side
entry porch with a lovely view towards the lake. The garage is in the
back of the house; it is entered via the side entry porch. The second
floor has 2 bedrooms and a full bath (see second floor layout photo).
The second floor porch looks out over the common green with giant pine
and hemlock trees. The cottage has a full basement with poured concrete
walls. The exterior siding and trim are low-maintenance fiber cement
and cedar. The primary heating system is an oil-fired hydronic system.
The entire first floor and second floor bathroom have radiant floor
heating. This is supplemented with radiators on (the rest of) the second
floor. A direct vent pellet stove adds a cozy touch to the first floor
living area and also serves as backup heating. The garage section
is already wired for electric, fully insulated and dry-walled. The remaining
exterior work will be completed as soon as the weather clears. |
